Although most lots are grassy meadows, some homes border natural deciduous forested landscape. This gives Shenstone Farm the picturesque views and privacy that owners desire.
Shenstone consists of 128 homes with a great variety of nationalities creating a community full of cultural diversity.
The W&OD hike/bike trail cuts through the middle of Shenstone Farm and offers residents bicycling east all the way to Alexandria via Arlington and west to Purcellville via Hamilton. Shorter bicycle trips are to Old Town Leesburg or day trips to Reston Town Center or downtown Vienna. Many residents use the W&OD trail to exercise and also to walk to the famous annual Loudoun County Fair at the 4H farm located on Dry Mill Road.
You can also cross over the trail to get to the Dry Mill Winery. Shenstone is located in the middle of Loudoun County Wine Trail with numerous wineries in the surrounding areas.
Historically, Washingtonians would travel by train on the Washington-Old Dominion Railroad westward to the higher elevations in Loudoun to escape the summertime DC heat. The micro climate atop the Catoctin Mountains at Shenstone is a bit cooler in the summer and, when snow arrives in Northern Virginia's winters, it arrives first at these higher elevations. The area more readily experiences breezes and winds than the relative flat lands of Fairfax County.
Shopping and restaurants are within a 2-5 mile drive into Leesburg VA's Old Town, Leesburg Plaza along Market Street (Route 7 Business) or along the Route 7 bypass to Leesburg's Outlet mall big box shopping area. (Wal Mart, SuperTarget, Cosco, Best Buy et al.) All major grocery stores are within 15 min driving of Shenstone. There are also 2 hospitals within 20 min driving and Leesburg has a great supply of doctors, medical offices, dentists, lawyers, auto care, child care and pet care.
The Estates at Shenstone Farm community is managed by the National Realty Partners of Herndon, Virginia.
